Your air valve system in pre-95 machines uses a valve that is electronically controlled but utilizes brass bushings. To find out if this is the problem look under the air valves their should be a small white circle. While the machine is waiting to drop into low range or high range take a pen tip and push on the white circle and if you push the right one and it shifts then you have corrosion in your valve or on the plunger. You can CAREFULLY take the valve out and the cover off and push the brass plunger out enough to clean it off and use a littel marvel mystery oil to lube it (the air tool version). Make sure you are running clean water free air or this will happen again. We use marvel in our oiler now and have since fixed this issue. Our rep told us they could come fix it for $900
